In Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), ePTFE tubing finds application in non-pressurized streams such as solvent inlet lines from reservoirs to the pump, waste drain lines after the detector, and for various vent or purge functions, where its exceptional chemical inertness ensures compatibility with a wide range of solvents and acids without introducing contaminants. However, it is expressly not used in the high-pressure section of an HPLC system between the pump and the column due to its insufficient pressure resistance. Additionally, for ultra-sensitive analyses like LC-MS,potential very low-level extractable compounds must be considered, as they could contribute to background noise. |
